This month, we are embracing art in all its forms, taking inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach by exploring creativity through a wide range of media and materials - not just traditional paper-based art. At Sarah’s children have opportunities to paint, sculpt, mould, build, create and experiment, allowing them to express their own ideas and creativity in different ways.
We are also very excited see Miss Emma creating special projects in each classroom
Squirrel Nutkin & Mr Jeremy Fisher: Miss Emma is working with the children to create beautiful papier-mâché pieces for their classrooms.
Peter Rabbit & Tom Kitten: Art sessions will be inspired by their current Gruffalo topics, giving children opportunities to explore the characters and stories creatively.
Jemima Puddle Duck: The children are creating an exciting under-the-sea display, using a variety of materials and creative techniques.
Every classroom now has a brand-new art area, filled with new resources and materials that are being replenished daily. This is an important part of our Montessori prepared environment—ensuring children have accessible, purposeful materials that encourage independence, exploration and creativity.
Child-led art is a wonderful part of Montessori. Rather than focusing on everyone creating the same finished product, we encourage children to choose their materials, explore processes, make their own decisions and express their individual ideas. The process of creating is just as important as the finished piece
We can’t wait to see where the children’s creativity takes them next month!
